Messages

 

The client may run completely silent, or you may choose to display some information to the end-user.

 

Display error messages - Check this option to display any error message boxes to the user. This is most useful while testing and implementing Snow Inventory in your network. This option should not be enable in production environments.

 

Play warning beeps - Plays a short beep to alert the user about message boxes appearing on screen.

 

Display scanning progress message - Displays a message box that tells the user that inventory scanning is in progress.

 

Display message when stopping illegal applications - Displays a message when the deny module is preventing or stopping blacklisted applications. You can use variables in the message,  click the browse_button button to display a menu which will help you inserting variables and previewing the message.

 

clip0006 Note! Please observe that using environment variables may give different results when previewing and running at the client computer. The client software is running as a service and does not have the same set of environment variables as a normal user.

 

Remove message after x seconds - Specify the time interval the dialog box above should be on screen before it is removed.

 

 

Logging

 

The client has its own log file which contains valuable information for the administrator and the developers at Snow Software.  Depending on the log level information, warnings, and error messages are written to the log file.

 

Log level - Specify the detail level of the log.

 

File name - Shows the name of the client log file which is located in the client data folder.

 

Max size - Indicated the maximum log file size in kilobytes. The file is reset to size zero when this threshold is exceeded.

 

Clear log at startup - Check this options to clear the log file when the client starts up.

 

Enable debug output - Enable this option to display debug output (for advanced users and programmer feedback).
