Creating asset forms

Use the forms designer pane to design forms and data lists. The forms designer also controls state transition maps and audit histories. The forms designer is divided into three main parts:

• Toolbar: Use the toolbar to save, validate, edit properties, and preview your asset form. The toolbar also lets you switch between the form definition mode, the state transition map mode, and the history mode.
• Form definition workspace: Use the workspace to define your form.
• Toolbox: Use the toolbox to drag form controls onto the asset form and to configure control properties. For more information, see Asset form controls.

Switching form modes 

Each form has three view modes that you can toggle with toolbar buttons:

• Form definition mode: Use this mode to lay out your form and configure control properties. See Asset form controls.
• State transition map mode: Use this mode to configure the form's state transition map. See State transition map canvas.
• History mode: Use this mode to see a history of changes to the form. If you've enabled auditing for a control, those changes are also visible here. See Form auditing in the Design and the Web consoles.

Supporting resources and data lists

Supporting resources are items that support the asset, such as contracts or purchase orders. For more information, see Supporting resources. Data lists are lists of possible items used to populate combo boxes, single record boxes, and tables. For more information, see Data lists.
