Multifunction Settings tab

1. On the Ethernet Devices tab or iSCSI Devices tab select a Multifunction Server Adapter.
2. Click Properties. The Multifunction ADapter Properties window displays.
   • Ethernet controls are not available for FlexNIC-enabled adapters.
   • The tabs displayed vary depending on the adapter that you selected.

     

Connection:

• Auto Negotiate. Enables automatic negotiation of speed setting.
  • Default = Enabled
  • Range = Enabled; Disabled
• Speed/Duplex Setting. Changes the current speed and duplex settings. Be sure this setting is compatible with the link partner (examples: switch, hub).

  Some properties are not configurable if an adapter has FlexNIC enabled.

  • 10000 Adapters
    • Default = Auto/Auto
    • Range = Auto/Auto; 1Gbps/Full; 2.5Gbps/Full; 10Gbps/Full
  • 2500 capable adapters
    • Default = 1Gbps/Full; 2.5Gbps/Full
    • Range = 1000/Full; 2.5Gbps/Full

    To achieve speeds of 2.5 Gbps, update to the latest firmware and then set the link partner (switch or hub) to 2.5 Gb before using the NCU to set the device port. This speed is only achievable if the link partner is capable of 2.5 Gbps. This setting also applies only to the non-partitioned adapters.

  • 1000BASE SX or LX Adapters
    • Default = Auto/Auto
    • Range = Auto/Auto
  • 10/100/1000 Adapters
    • Default = Auto/Auto
    • Range = Auto/Auto; 10/Half; 10/Full; 100/Half; 100/Full; 1000/Full (1000/Full enables auto-negotiation but restricts advertised capabilities to 1000/Full.)

Ethernet:

• Locally Administered Address. Specifies the user-defined MAC Address of the adapter, which overrides the burned-in MAC Address. This box is disabled if the selected adapter has been teamed.
  • For HP BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect users, the Burned-in MAC Address reports the HP-Assigned MAC Address as assigned in the Virtual Connect Server Profile.

iSCSI:

• Enable iSCSI Device. Enables the Multifunction Server Adapter to run iSCSI protocol over offloaded TCP connections.
  • If the NCU does not detect the presence of the Microsoft® iSCSI Software Initiator 2.0 or later, iSCSI cannot be enabled.
• Locally Administered Address. Specifies the user-defined MAC Address of the iSCSI-enabled adapter, which overrides the burned-in MAC Address.
• iSCSI IP Settings. Displays the iSCSI IP Settings window allowing you to define how the IP address is obtained.
• OK. Saves your settings and returns to the Ethernet Devices tab.
• Cancel. Closes the window without saving your settings and returns to the Ethernet Devices tab.
• Help. Launches the context-sensitive NCU Help file.
