Applications use the methods of the IDirectSoundinterface to create DirectSound objects and set up the environment. This section is a reference to the methods of this interface.
The interface is obtained by using the DirectSoundCreatefunction.
The methods of the IDirectSoundinterface can be organized into the following groups:
Initialization | Initialize |
SetCooperativeLevel | |
Buffer creation | CreateSoundBuffer |
DuplicateSoundBuffer | |
Device capabilities | GetCaps |
Memory management | Compact |
Speaker configuration | Not supported on Windows CE |
The IDirectSoundinterface, like all COM interfaces, inherits the IUnknowninterface methods. The IUnknowninterface supports the following three methods:
IUnknown | AddRef |
QueryInterface | |
Release |
The LPDIRECTSOUNDtype is defined as a pointer to the IDirectSoundinterface:
typedef struct IDirectSound *LPDIRECTSOUND;
