MaxProfileSize

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Data type Range Default value
REG_DWORD 0x12C - 0xFFFFFFFF kilobytes 0x7530 (30000 KB = 30 MB)

Description

Specifies the maximum allowed size of each roaming user profile.

This entry stores the value you type in the Max Profile Size box in the Limit profile size Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry when you enable the Limit profile size policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry and the system does not limit the size of roaming user profiles.

When a roaming user profile reaches the threshold specified in this entry, the system does not let the user log off until they reduce their profile to a a size smaller than or equal to the value of this entry. To aid the user, the system displays the files that comprise the user profile, and asks the user to delete files from the list.

The related entries in this subkey let you warn the user that their profile is too large before they try to log off.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Max Profile Size box in the Limit profile size policy (User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon/Logoff).

Note Image Note

This entry is used only when the Limit profile size policy is enabled, that is, when the value of EnableProfileQuota is 1.
