EnableProfileQuota

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Data type Range Default value
REG_DWORD 0 | 1 0

Description

Enables and disables the policy that limits the size of roaming user profiles.

This entry stores the setting of the Limit profile size Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

Value Meaning
0 (or not in registry) The policy is disabled or not configured. The system does not limit the size of roaming user profiles.
1 The policy is enabled. The system limits the size of roaming user profiles. Users cannot log off of the system if their profile exceeds the maximum permitted size.

When a roaming user profile reaches the threshold established by the value of MaxProfileSize, the system does not let the user log off until they reduce their profile to a permissible size. To aid the user, the system displays the files that comprise the user profile, and asks the user to delete files from the list.

The values of related entries let you customize this feature by warning the user that their profile is too large before they try to log off.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Limit profile size policy (User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon/Logoff).
