Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | 1 - 120 seconds | 10 |
Defines how long the primary domain controller (PDC) waits for a response from a backup domain controller (BDC) before it considers the BDC to be unresponsive. An unresponsive BDC is not counted against the limit specified by PulseConcurrency, allowing the PDC to send a pulse to another BDC in the domain.
If this value is too high, a domain with a large number of unresponsive BDCs takes a long time to complete a partial replication. If this number is too low, a slow BDC might mistakenly be treated as unresponsive. When the BDC finally does respond, it will partially replicate from the PDC, increasing the load on the PDC.
Note
For Windows 2000, Net Logon manages replication only when it involves servers running Windows NT 4.0 or earlier. Net Logon for Windows 2000 does not manage replication between two servers running Windows 2000.
Windows 2000 does not add this entry to the registry. You can add it by editing the registry or by using a program that edits it.
