Collecting and Storing Data for
QAS Reporting
The QAS Reporting node includes templates, a group of predefined templates that you can use for the scheduled collections.
QAS Reporting node
Unless you need to run the QAS Report templates against live data, you must schedule the templates to run regularly. This will ensure that the database is populated with the information needed for the successful generation of the QAS Reports. In most instances, weekly intervals will suffice. However, it is recommended that you evaluate your organization’s particular situation and schedule the templates accordingly.
To set up a scheduled collection
1.
Expand Reporting | Collections.
2.
Right-click Scheduled Collections and select New | Scheduled Collection. Click Next.
3.
The list displays only the computers with RDCs installed.
– OR –
Click Add to send the scheduled collection to another computer, then select an install location for the RDC.
If there is an RDC installed on the computer, you cannot change the location. The installation directory box is only available if an RDC is not installed on the computer.
4.
Select either Windows Authentication or SQL Authentication.
If you select Windows Authentication, the account provides the security credentials for collecting the data and storing the data to your database. The user name and password are entered in step 19.
If you select SQL Authentication, enter an SQL user name and password.
5.
Click Next.
6.
Select Direct to Database and click Next.

Select Compressed Data and click Next.

Select Report Templates as the source for the scheduled collection, then click Next.

There may be instances when a linked collection is not necessary. For example, if you do a collection on groups and decide to also link in users, you may not need to collect linked users if you have just done a collection on all the Domain users.
If you do not want to do a fresh collection on linked objects, select the Use linked data from the database’ check box.
12.
Click Next.
13.
Click Add to open the Object Picker dialog box.
14.
15.
16.
