Introducing Quest Reporter : Creating and Using Object Sets : Using Object Sets to Organize Network Objects : Types of Object Sets

Types of Object Sets
There are two kinds of object sets:
One advantage to using a dynamic object set is the use of queries. Any time any object meeting the search criteria you have specified is added to the network it is automatically added to the data collection. This saves a lot of time versus manually adding every single object that fits this criterion.
You can also have object sets that are a combination of both types, static and dynamic. These object sets are considered to be partially dynamic, as the object set is made up of both specific objects and queries that use search criteria. For example, suppose you want to focus on certain share and folder permissions. You can create an object set that contains predefined computers, but also includes a query that looks for published shares that fit the search criteria you have defined in that query.
