Waking Up/Pushing Computers

You can wake up and push jobs to managed computers that are compatible with the Intel Wired for Management (WfM) standard and its Remote Wake-Up (RWU) feature.

If a computer is already turned on and connected to the server, the current job is pushed to the computer. If a computer is turned off, Symantec LiveState Delivery wakes it up and pushes the job.

Symantec LiveState Delivery can wake up computers explicitly or implicitly:

Note: The Command Center does not check to see if any managed computer is WfM-compatible. If you send a wake-up call to a computer that is not WfM-compatible, the call is ignored.

To explicitly wake up/push jobs to computers

  1. In the Scope pane, expand Computers and click All Computers to display the computers in the Result pane.

  2. In the Result pane, Shift-click or Ctrl-click the computer names that you want to wake up or push.

  3. Right-click one of the selected computers and click Wake Up/Push.

  4. In the Wake Up Computers dialog box, click OK to wake up the computers that are listed in the Computer name list box.

An Activity is created, indicating only that the wake-up call has been sent to the computers. Symantec LiveState Delivery sends no notification that the computers have been started or that the jobs have been pushed. To verify that the jobs are being executed, click the computer name in the Scope pane. You can then monitor the progress of the jobs' phases in the Result pane.
