Status: Days since last check that newly-archived data is secure

Monitoring tab alert name: Vault Store partition backup scan

Problem: The Enterprise Vault scan to determine whether newly-archived data is secure is overdue.

Enterprise Vault scans newly-archived data in a Vault Store partition to determine whether the data has been secured by backup or replication. Enterprise Vault performs the scan as follows:

This alert indicates that Enterprise Vault has not performed the scan of newly-archived data recently.

When Enterprise Vault detects that an item is secure it completes the processing of the item, as appropriate. For example, Enterprise Vault may change the original item into a shortcut or placeholder or may delete the item from a journal mailbox.

Work through the following steps to fix the problem. You may not need to try all the steps.

  1. Find out whether the partition has ever been backed up. If the partition has never been backed up then you need to add it to your backup procedures.

See Checking whether a partition has ever been backed up.

See Checking that the partition has been backed up before Enterprise Vault removes safety copies.

  2. Check that backup jobs are not failing. Contact your backup administrator if necessary

  3. If you use a trigger file to indicate that backups are complete, the trigger file may be missing or it may have the wrong date. Check that the trigger file is correct.

See Using a trigger file to indicate that backup is complete.

  4. Make sure that the alert is not running too frequently. The alert should run after backups are complete. Change the alert schedule if necessary.

See Checking the monitoring alert configurations.

  5. Run the checks again to make sure that you have corrected the problem.

    See Running the status checks.
