Status: Check for success of backup and replication of newly-archived data

Monitoring tab alert name: Vault Store partition backup detected

Problem: Enterprise Vault cannot detect that newly-archived data has been secured.

Enterprise Vault scans the Vault Store partitions to check that newly-archived data has been secured by backup or replication. Enterprise Vault performs the scan at the following times:

This alert indicates that Enterprise Vault has scanned but cannot find items that have been backed up recently. There may be a problem with your backup or replication procedures. Your procedures may have failed or may not have been configured for this partition.

Work through the following steps to fix the problem. You may not need to try all the steps.

  1. Find out whether the partition has ever been backed up. If the partition has been backed up previously then the problem is likely to be in the backup procedures. Contact your backup administrator to investigate the backup problem.

If the partition has never been backed up then you need to add it to your backup procedures.

See Checking whether a partition has ever been backed up.

It is possible that the backup has been successful but that Enterprise Vault is not detecting that the backup is complete.

See Checking that the partition has been backed up before Enterprise Vault removes safety copies.

  2. Check that the alert is configured correctly. For example, the alert may be running at the wrong time.

See Checking the monitoring alert configurations.

  3. Back up the partition.

See About Enterprise Vault backups for information on how to back up partitions.

  4. Run the checks again to make sure that you have corrected the problem.

    See Running the status checks.
