Using Component Designer to Define a Component

After the prerequisites are met for creating a component definition file, you can define a component by performing the following steps:

  1. Using Component Designer, create the component definition file for the new component to be added to the Target Designer system database.
  2. Set properties for the component definition file.
  3. Using component definition file sections, define the component, associated capability, support files, and dependencies.
  4. Add comments to the component definition file, if necessary.
  5. Save the component definition file.
  6. Using Target Designer, import the component definition file.
