The main CompatAdmin window is made up of three panes: the System Database pane in the upper left corner, the Custom Database pane in the lower left corner, and the Details pane on the right side of the window.
This pane allows you to view and browse applications with compatibility fixes in the Windows XP Professional system database.
This pane allows you to create, edit, and rename custom database files (.sdb).
This pane allows you to view, enable, and disable existing fixes in the system database. You can also use this pane to view, enable, disable, and add matching file info, and to test run existing fixes in custom databases.
This window is displayed when you search for fixes. The following details are listed for each application that has an application fix applied to it:
|Affected File||The name of the file to which the fix was applied.|
|Application||The name of the application to which the fix was applied.|
|Action||A general description of the fix that has been applied to the file.|
|Database||The name of the database where the fix lives (either the system database or a custom database).|
|Global Setting||The global status of the fix for any computer using the specified database. A fix from a custom database can be enabled or disabled at the global level. Fixes from the system database cannot be disabled on a global level.|
|Local Setting||The local status of the fix for any computer using the specified database. Fixes from both custom databases and the system database can be enabled or disabled at the local level.|
