Description

Determines the smallest unit of time that the Packet Scheduler uses when scheduling packets for transmission. The Packet Scheduler cannot schedule packets for transmission more frequently than permitted by the value of this entry.

If you enter a value that is too small for the Hardware Abstraction Layer on your system to support, the system uses the smallest supported interval.

This entry can be superceded by a policy included in Windows 2000. While the Set timer resolution Group Policy is enabled, the system ignores this entry. The setting of the Set timer resolution policy is stored in the value of TimerResolution (Policies subkey).

Windows 2000 does not add this entry to the registry. You can add it by editing the registry or by using a program that edits the registry.
