HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DiskQuota
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | (Not in registry) | 0 | 1 | (Not in registry) |
Enables and disables disk quota management on all NTFS volumes of the computer, and prevents users from changing the setting.
This entry stores the setting of the Enable disk quotas Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the Enable disk quotas policy. If you disable the policy, Group Policy sets the value of this entry to 0. If you set the policy to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry.
Value | Meaning |
---|---|
(Not in registry) | The policy is not configured. Disk quota management is disabled, but administrators can enable it. |
0 | The policy is disabled. Disk quota management is disabled, and administrators cannot enable it. |
1 | The policy is enabled. Disk quota management is enabled and administrators cannot disable it. |
To prevent users from changing the setting while a policy is in effect, the system disables the Enable quota management option on the Quota tab of NTFS volumes.
To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Enable disk quotas policy (Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Disk Quotas).
Note
This entry takes precedence over a user setting stored on the NTFS volume. When this entry appears in the registry, a policy is in effect and the system disables the Enable quota management option on the Quota tab. If the Quota tab does not operate as expected, check to see if this entry is in the registry.
This entry enables disk quota management but does not establish or enforce a particular disk quota limit. To specify a disk quota limit, use the Default quota limit and warning level policy (stored in Limit, LimitUnits, Threshold, and ThresholdUnits). Otherwise, the system uses the physical space on the volume as the quota limit.
Tip
To enable or disable disk quota management without setting a policy, in My Computer, right-click the name of an NTFS volume, click Properties, click the Quota tab, and then click the Enable quota management option.
