HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\(Network adapters) {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\WAN Miniport (L2TP) <Device-number (000n)>
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | 0x0 - 0xFFFFFFFF | 0x2 |
Determines how many times the L2TP driver retransmits a control message. Control messages are transmitted repeatedly when they are not acknowledged.
Consider increasing this value if the network is very slow and calls are terminated prematurely. However, if this value is too high, system resources can be spent on maintaining circuits for unresponsive peers.

Windows 2000 does not add this entry to the registry. You can add it by editing the registry or by using a program that edits the registry.
