The <printer-name> subkey is a variable representing the subkeys under the Printers subkey. It does not actually appear in the registry. This variable subkey displays information which is common to the subkeys in the Printers subkey.
This subkey stores information about printers connected to the print server.
The subkeys and entries which appear in this subkey are backed up in the Printers subkey in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM. Any changes made in the SOFTWARE\Printers subkey will be reflected in the SYSTEM\Printers subkey.
Note
This subkey appears only on servers which host local printers. It does not appear on computers which only connect to network printers.
