Description

Specifies the maximum amount of disk space that can be used for the Windows File Protection file cache.

Windows File Protection adds protected files to the cache until the cache content reaches the quota. If the quota is greater than 50 MB, WFP adds other important Windows 2000 files to the cache until the cache size reaches the quota.

Value Meaning
(Not in registry) The default value is set to 50 MB on Windows 2000 Professional and is unlimited on Windows 2000 Server.
1 - 0xFFFFFFFE Specifies the size of the Windows File Protection cache on the local hard drive.
0xFFFFFFFF The cache size is not limited. Save all cache all protected system files on the local hard drive.

This entry can be superceded by a policy included in Windows 2000. While the Limit Windows File Protection cache size policy is enabled and SfcQuota appears in the Policies subkey, the system ignores this entry. If Windows File Protection does not operate as expected, check to see whether a policy is in effect.
