HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | 0 - 120,000 milliseconds | 2000 (2 seconds) |
Defines a slow link for Winlogon. If the server storing a user's profile does not respond before the time specified in the value of this entry expires, Winlogon considers the link to the server to be slow and offers users the option of using a profile cached on their local computer instead of waiting for the server.
This entry is used only when the value of SlowLinkDetectEnabled is 1.
You can increase the value of SlowLinkTimeOut to favor the server-based profile. This is particularly useful for clients using DHCP-assigned addresses, or for computers accessing server-based profiles over slow WAN links, such as dial-up connections.
To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Slow network connection timeout policy (Computer Settings\Software Policies\Windows NT User Profiles).
Note
Windows 2000 does not add this entry to the registry. You can add it by editing the registry or by using a program that edits the registry.
