System Performance Tweaks - Checking on Your Disk Maintenance

If you're not sure about the last time you performed some maintenance on your hard disk, you can get a quick look at the last time you backed up files, checked for errors, and defragmented. Just right-click on your C: drive icon, select Properties, and click the Tools tab. You can see the status of these three operations, and you can then perform any one of them just by clicking the corresponding button.

To do for example a check disk, follow the next steps:

  1. Double click on My Computer, right the C:\ drive and choose Properties (see picture 1).

  2. Click the tab Tools and choose for example "Check Now..." (see picture 2).
