Network Tweaks - Optimize TCP/IP Traffic

With a low TCP/IP traffic it's possible that there a some delay's if the default request buffer size is used. This value is default set to 4356 bytes. This parameter can be change from 512-65536 bytes. Some tests show that the value 14596 is a good value depend on the memory available.

To optimize the TCP/IP traffic, follow the next steps:

  1. Open the Registry Editor click on the Start button on your taskbar, then click on Run and type "regedit" and click on OK to start the regedit utility.
     
  2. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters (see picture 1).

  3. Create a new DWORD value "SizReqBuf" and give it the value "14596".
     
  4. The modifications you made will be in effect after you logout or reboot your PC.
