The inventory client is able to send the scanning result file by e-mail using either MAPI or SMTP.
MAPI is an acronym for Messaging Application Programming Interface. MAPI allows client programs to become (electronic mail) messaging-enabled, -aware, or -based by calling MAPI subsystem routines that interface with certain messaging systems and message stores.
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is the de facto standard for e-mail transmission across the Internet. SMTP is a relatively simple, text-based protocol, where one or more recipients of a message are specified (and in most cases verified to exist) and then the message text is transferred.
MAPI - Choose this option to send e-mail using MAPI.
SMTP - Choose this option to send e-mail using SMTP.
User name - Enter an optional mail server/client connection user name.
Password - Enter an optional mail server/client connection password.
Mail server - Enter the IP Address or DNS name of your outgoing mail server (SMTP only). MAPI uses the mail server configured in the mail client software.
Sender e-mail address - Enter the e-mail address of the sender (SMTP only). Fill in this field to avoid e-mail messages being tapped by SPAM filters. When you send using MAPI, the senders e-mail address is obtained from the mail client software.
