Solaris Volume Manager volume layout

The options for Solaris Volume Manager volumes let you select a volume layout and the file system action to perform.

Note:

When you map a Solaris Volume manager volume, only the same or a simpler layout can be mapped.

Volume Layout

The layout that is used to map the volume.

Concatenated

A volume whose data is organized serially and adjacently across components forming one logical storage unit.

Striped

A high-performance logical volume that spans multiple disks, allowing successive blocks of data to go to logical extents on different disks.

Number of Stripes

The number of stripes in the volume.

Stripe size

The stripe size. The default value is 16 KB, minimum is 4 KB, maximum is 64 KB.

Create but do not restore file system

Create and format the file system but do not restore the contents of the protected system.

Do not create file system

Create the volume but do not create the file system.
