VxSFW disk group

Use the Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows (VxSFW) disk group options to select disks to which to map the disk group.

Note:

Only dynamic disk groups can be allocated to new disks. The basic disk group is mapped by default and contains all the disks that are not in a dynamic group.

Click Finish to begin the mapping; after the mapping is finished, the Mapping Summary screen appears.

Table: Veritas SFW disk group selection options describes all of the options on the wizard screen.

Table: Veritas SFW disk group selection options

Option

Description

Original Disks

Shows the disks in the original disk group.

Disk Group Information

Shows information about the disks that are selected; you can use this information to recreate the disk group.

Available Disks

Shows a list of disks that are free of volumes and that are not restricted; you can add available disks to the Selected Disks list.

Automatically map volumes in the disk group

Select this option to create the disk group on the selected disks and map the original logical volumes to the new disks.

Use this option if you don't want to change the number of disks in the disk group.

If you select this option, make sure that you have enough disks and enough free space to recreate the volumes. If the disk and the space requirements are not met, the operation fails; if the operation fails, either allocate more disks to meet the requirements or select the option to create the volume group only and then map the volumes separately.

Create disk group only

Select this option to map only the disks and not the volumes.

Use this option if you want to change attributes of several logical volumes (layout, size, and so on).

Keep Original

If the original disks are in the Available Disks list, click Keep Original to use the original disks as the target disks for the restore.

Selected Disks

Shows the disks in the disk group in the new configuration.
