Table: HP-UX volume group selection options

Option

Description

Original Disks

Shows the disks in the original volume group.

Volume Group Information

Shows information about the disks that are selected; you can use this information to help determine to which available disks you can map the selected source disks.

Available Disks

Shows a list of disks that are free of volumes and that are not restricted; you can add available disks to the Selected Disks list.

Automatically map volumes in the volume group

Select this option to create the volume group on the selected disks and map the original logical volumes to the new disks.

Use this option if you don't want to change the number of disks in the volume group.

If you select this option, make sure that you have enough disks and enough free space to recreate the volumes. If the disk and the space requirements are not met, the operation fails; if the operation fails, either allocate more disks to meet the requirements or select the option to create the volume group only and then map the volumes separately.

Simplify volume group

Select this option to do the following:

  • Force the creation of the volume group

  • Set the number of copies and stripes in all the volumes being mapped to 1

This option is useful if you want to map all volumes as concatenated volumes onto a disk.

This option is only available if you choose the Automatically map volumes in this volume group option on this page.

Keep Original

If the original disks are in the Available Disks list, click Keep Original to use the original disks as the target disks for the restore.

Selected Disks

Shows the disks that are used to map the volume group.
