Adding Computers from an Imported File

You can add computers from external comma, tab, semicolon, or colon-delimited text files.

You can set the defaults for file location and field delimiter for the imported file in the Command Center's Import Export Settings.

Note:  If you are importing a file that contains data that was previously exported from Symantec LiveState Delivery, the file must have been produced from the Command Center using the Computer Properties dialog box's Export to File button.

Files that were produced using the MMC "Export List" function cannot be imported into Symantec LiveState Delivery to add computers.

To import computer identification data from a file

  1. Expand Computers and right-click All Computers.

  2. Select Add Multiple Computers.

  3. Click Import from File.

  4. In the Open dialog, specify the text file that contains the computer information you want to import.

The Import from File dialog box appears.

If you saved the file in a different field delimited format, the entire content of the file displays in the ID column. To select the correct delimiter, click Settings.

  1. When the file displays in the correct format, click OK.

  2. If you want to remove a row from the Import from File dialog box, select the row, then click Delete Row.

  3. If the first row of the file contains column headers and not computer identification data, select the First line contains column headers check box.

  4. Click OK.

The Add Computers: Properties dialog box displays the imported data for the computers.

  1. Click OK.

An Activity is created, and the computers are added.  You can monitor the status of the activity.
