Status: Status of backup or replication of newly-archived data

Monitoring tab alert name: New items awaiting backup

Problem: There is a build-up of savesets that Enterprise Vault cannot confirm have been backed up or replicated.

This alert indicates that the number of items still waiting to be backed up has reached a high level. This backlog indicates that there may be a problem with your backup procedures.

Work through the following steps to fix the problem. You may not need to try all the steps.

  1. Check that the backup has succeeded. Perhaps the backup job failed or the backup was not scheduled for the correct time.

  2. If you are using an EMC Centera, check the size of the Centera replication queue.

  3. Make sure that the check runs at a time when the backup is complete and not much archiving has occurred since the backup. Change the alert schedule if necessary.

Enterprise Vault used to have a default threshold value of 5000 for this alert. The threshold has been increased to 50000. If the threshold for your alert is set to be much smaller than 50000, consider increasing the value.

See Checking the monitoring alert configurations.

  4. If you have corrected a problem with backups, back up or replicate the savesets.

  5. Run the checks again to make sure that you have corrected the problem.

    See Running the status checks.
