The report view Properties dialog box allows you to set the report security settings.
To display a report's properties, open the report and click the Properties toolbar button .
The General tab shows the name of the report.
The Security tab displays a list of groups, users, or roles who have access to the report view you selected, and indicates which permissions those users, groups, or roles have for that report view. You can also use this tab to add, change, or remove user permissions for a particular report view. You can choose from these permissions:
Users who have read rights to at least one report and rights to either the Web console's Asset or Process tab can also create new reports by copying an existing report and then making the desired changes to the copy. Security settings for a report are also copied to the new report.
Users with rights to either the Web console's Asset tab or Process tab that also have at least read rights to at least one report view can create a new report from scratch. New reports created in this manner are only available to the user who created the report, unless they use the Security pane in the Web console to grant access to other users.
Users with modify rights to an existing report have access to the Web console's Report wizard, which is accessible by clicking on the Settings button. Users who have read rights only to a report will not see the settings button that allows users to make changes to the report. The Web console's Report wizard provides options to choose the fields you want to include in the report, specify filters, sort order, grouping, summation, bulk update, and security settings. These steps enable you to customize the report to include the kinds of data you want and the format that best serves your purposes.
The Asset Content pack includes several dozen ready-to-use reports, all of which can be generated simply by selecting the desired report from the Web console's reports explorer. Access to these reports is provided via roles. Since roles are assigned to each report, the ALM Administrator role can grant access by simply assigning users to a role that has the desired rights, instead of needing to assign specific rights to every report. See Configuring roles.
