The status calculation refers to the calculation that is performed
to determine the status that is assigned to a service. This status
is calculated from the severity of the messages assigned to that
service, and from the statuses of any subservices on which the
service is dependent. For every status calculation you need to
define:
The Description of the rule is a short sentence that
identifies the rule. The description is important, because it is
what you will see in the rule list.
It is important to understand the principles of status calculation

To configure Status Calculation
Open the Service Editor
Select
your top-level services folder in the console tree.
Clickon the Configuration toolbar to open the Service
Editor.
Select the service that you want to configure.
Select Properties.
Select Status Calculation.
In the Rule name box, set the rule that the service you
are editing uses when performing status calculation.
NOTE:
To edit a calculation rule or create a new rule, select
Calculation Rules in the Service Configuration
editor.
