If policies at your site require that you change all passwords on a regular basis, you may need to change the smeclnt passwords. There are two smeclnt passwords required by CCM.
Before you installed CCM on a server or in a domain as a member server, you created the operating system smeclnt user account and assigned it a password.
When you installed CCM, the setup stored the smeclnt name and password in the CCM database.
These two passwords must be identical. When you change the smeclnt password, you must change both instances.
NOTE: CCM managed NT, 2000, and XP computers have smeclnt accounts and passwords automatically assigned to them by the CCM Windows Agent. When you change the smeclnt password on the server, the CCM Windows Agent reads the new password from the server’s smelogin file and automatically assigns it to the managed NT/2000 computer. It is not necessary to manually change the smeclnt password on each NT/2000/XP computer.
Use the CCM Password Management Utility (ccm_pw.exe) to change the CCM smeclnt account password.
Use the standard Windows or UNIX password utility or command to change the operating system smeclnt account password.
