WARNING:
To reduce the risk of electric shock, personal injury, and damage
to the equipment:
Do not attempt
to service any parts of the equipment other than those specified in
the following procedure. Any other activities may require that you
shut down the server and remove the power cord.
Installation
and maintenance of this product must be performed by individuals
who are knowledgeable about the procedures, precautions and hazards
associated with the product.
You must observe the following requirements
when installing redundant hot-plug fans:
To ensure optimum cooling, populate the
primary fan locations, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7, before populating the
redundant locations.
If a primary fan fails, replace the
non-functioning fan before installing fans in redundant locations.
If the server is operating with less than
seven functional fans, power down the server,
then continue with the next step.
Remove the non-functioning fan.
CAUTION: Do not operate the server for long periods
with the access panel open or removed. Operating the server in this
manner results in improper airflow and improper cooling that can
lead to thermal damage.
IMPORTANT: For optimum cooling, install fans in all
primary fan locations. For more information, refer to the fan locations table.
To replace the component, reverse the removal
procedure.
