EventLoggingLevel

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetCache

Data type Range Default value
REG_DWORD 0 - 3 0

Description

Determines which events the Offline Files feature records in the Application Log in Event Viewer.

This entry stores the setting in the Enter {0 – 3} box of the Event logging level Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry when you configure the Event logging level policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

The values in the following table are cumulative; that is, each level includes the events in all preceding levels.

Value Meaning
0 Records an error when the Offline Files cache is corrupted.
1 Also records an event when the server hosting the offline file is disconnected from the network.
2 Also records events when the local computer is connected and disconnected from the network.
3 Also records an event when the server hosting the offline file is reconnected to the network.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Event logging level policy (Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files). From the Enter box, select the number corresponding to the events you want the system to log.

Note Image Note

This entry can appear in both HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER. If this entry appears in both subtrees, the value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE takes precedence over the value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
