Description

Removes the Add/Remove Windows Components button from the Add/Remove Programs bar. As a result, users cannot view or change the associated page.

This entry stores the setting of the Hide Add/Remove Windows Components page Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

Value Meaning
0 (or not in registry) The policy is disabled or not configured. The Add/Remove Windows Components page is available to all users.
1 The policy is enabled. The Add/Remove Windows Components button is removed from the Add/Remove Programs bar. As a result, users cannot view or change the associated page.

The Add/Remove Windows Components page lets users configure installed services and use the Windows Component wizard to add, remove, and configure components of Windows 2000 from the installation files.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Hide Add/Remove Windows Components page policy (User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs).

Note Image Note

This entry does not prevent users from using other tools and methods to configure services or add or remove program components. However, this entry blocks user access to the Windows Components wizard.
