HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\(Network adapters) {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\WAN Miniport (L2TP) <Device-number (000n)>

Data type Range Default value
REG_DWORD 0x0 - 0xFFFFFFFF 0x3E8 (1000)

Description

Stores the maximum number of WAN endpoints permitted on the system for use by the L2TP driver.

The value of this entry is set at 1000 endpoints by default. However, the system does not let the value of WanEndpoints exceed the value of MaxWanEndpoints. If you use the Maximum ports box in Routing and Remote Access to raise the value of WanEndpoints above the value of MaxWanEndpoints, the system automatically increases the value of MaxWanEndpoints to equal it. The system will raise the value until it reaches the number of available devices.

Note Image Note

Each time you increase the value in the Maximum ports box so that it is greater than the value of this entry, you must restart Windows 2000 to make the change effective.

Tip Image Tip

The value in the Maximum ports box is stored in the value of WanEndpoints. To go to the Maximum ports box, use Routing and Remote Access. Right-click Ports, click Properties, click WAN Miniport (L2TP), and then click Configure.
