Determines when Windows File Protection scans protected files for changes. By default, protected files are scanned only during setup.
|0||Windows File Protection scans files only during setup.|
|1||Windows File Protection scans files at setup and each time you start Windows 2000. This setting delays each startup.|
|2||Windows File Protection scans files the next time you start the system.|
To change the value of this entry, use System File Checker (SFC.exe), a tool included in Windows 2000 Server.
This entry affects file scanning only. It does not affect the standard background file change detection that Windows File Protection provides.
This entry can be superceded by a policy included in Windows 2000. While the Set Windows File Protection scanning is enabled, the system ignores this entry. The setting of the Set Windows File Protection scanning policy is stored in the value of Sfcscan in the Policies subkey. If Windows File Protection or System File Checker does not operate as expected, check to see whether a policy is in effect.
Windows File Protection only scans when the current user is an administrator of the computer.
For detailed information about particular Group Policy settings, see the Group Policy Reference (Gp.chm) on the Windows 2000 Resource Kit companion CD.
