Description

Lists the default datatype associated with this printer.

The default datatype is used if the application does not specify a datatype. Most Windows 2000 applications use the EMF datatype by default.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, click Start, point to Settings, and then select Printers. Right-click the printer name, and then select Properties. Click the Advanced tab, click the Print Processor button, and then select a data type from the Default datatype list box.

Most MS-DOS clients, Windows for Workgroups clients, and Windows 95/98 clients will fail when they attempt to use the printer if you specify a datatype other than RAW.

You must have Manage Printers permissions on the printer to be able to change this setting.
