Ntbackup

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\

Description

The Ntbackup subkey contains entries that store configuration data for Windows Backup (Ntbackup.exe). Windows Backup enables you to back up files to tape and restore files from tape. You can use Windows Backup to back up the files in which the registry is stored.

When you configure Windows Backup, it adds its default subkeys and entries to the registry. Many of these entries are no longer used by Windows Backup. Other entries are maintained by the system and should never be changed by editing the registry.

When you upgrade from a previous version of Windows on which you used Windows Backup, delete the subkeys and entries in the Ntbackup subkey before running the upgraded version of Windows Backup. This assures that registry entries are appropriate to the most recent version of Windows Backup.

To run Backup, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Backup.
