To set authentication methods

Using the Windows interface

  1. Open Services for UNIX Administration.
  2. If necessary, connect to the remote computer you want to manage.
  3. Click Telnet Server.
  4. Click the Authentication tab, and select one or both authentication methods.
  5. To save the settings, click Apply.

Caution

Using a command line

Argument Description
computer The name of the remote computer you want to manage.
{+|}ntlm Use a plus sign (+) to turn on the ntlm authentication method, and a minus sign () to turn it off. The ntlm option allows clients that support NTLM authentication to log on without prompting users for a user name and password and to send encrypted authentication credentials to Telnet Server.
{+|}passwd Use a plus sign (+) to turn on the passwd authentication method, and a minus sign () to turn it off. The passwd option allows clients to send credentials in plain (unencrypted) text.
