Keeping programs running after you disconnect

You can use Telnet Client to start programs on a computer running Telnet Server. However, by default, these programs terminate as soon as you disconnect from the server.

If you need to start a program that will continue to run after you disconnect, you can use the bgjob utility to start the program if the remote Telnet Server is configured to allow programs to run in this manner. For information about how to set Telnet Server to allow programs to run after the user disconnects, see To set the option for running programs when user disconnects.

For detailed information about using bgjob, see bgjob. For information about terminating processes, see kill.
