Scan

The software scanner detects installed software by scanning the user's profile and registry. This is quite fast compared with scanning all the files on the hard drives. However, to ensure that all applications are detected, you must run the local disk scanner, since some applications may not have a shortcut or registry key associated with the application, making it undetectable.

Scan local disks - Check this option to scan all your local hard drives for software applications.

Incremental scanning - Enable this option to use incremental scanning. The incremental software scanner will scan a small portion of your hard drives each time the inventory scanner is executed. You can set a maximum time period for the incremental scanner to run. After a number of inventory scans, the whole hard drives has been scanned.

Full scan first time - Check this option to scan the whole hard drive first time, then use incremental scanning the following times.

Scan filter - Click this button to open the Software filter dialog, where you can specify applications and folder to exclude for the scanner.

Meter

All started applications are included in the metering process. However, you may want to exclude some applications.

Metering filter - Click this button to open the Metering filter dialog, where you can specify applications and folder to exclude for the meter.

Deny

The Snow Inventory client has a built-in software blocker module, which may be used to prevent the local user to start and run blacklisted software applications. You can use this functionality to deny the user to run games, file sharing applications, and other programs that might be a security risk.

Enable deny filter - Check this option to enable the deny module.

Deny filter - Click this button to open the Deny filter dialog, where you can specify applications that should be prevented from starting.
