This book includes a 120-day evaluation edition of SMS 2003 that you can use to explore features and management methods discussed in the text. The SMS 2003 evaluation edition is unsupported by both Microsoft and Microsoft Press and should not be used on a primary work computer. In addition, this CD does not include the documentation guides cited in this book. For online support information related to the full version of SMS 2003 (much of which will also apply to the evaluation edition), or to download any of the support guides, you can connect to http://www.microsoft.com/smserver.

SMS 2003 has been extensively tested with the supported operating system versions listed above. Although SMS 2003 is supported on all of the platforms listed, it's strongly recommended that you upgrade to the latest operating system service pack at the earliest opportunity in order to benefit from the latest security fixes. If an issue is reported to Microsoft that is exhibited only on an earlier operating system revision and the root cause of the issue is determined to be an operating system component, the recommended solution might be to upgrade to a more recent operating system service pack.
