Introducing Quest Reporter : Database Maintenance : Troubleshooting : Database Maintenance Logs

Database Maintenance Logs
The Database Maintenance tool creates three log files to assist in the use of the tool. Log files are named using the following format: PREFIX_xxxxx.log.
PREFIX identifies the component responsible for creating the log and ’xxxx’ refers to a unique identifier used to distinguish similar logs.
Log files are named as follows:
The MMC console creates logs using the prefix DataStoreSnapinLog. This log contains a history of the actions performed by the Database Maintenance snap-in.
Each task performed by the Database Maintenance Tool creates a new trace log file and adds information to the DBMaintenanceLog. This log records information pertaining to the execution of tasks by the Database Maintenance tool.
The DBMaintenanceTrace log records information pertaining to an individual task instance. Each task creates a trace log as it performs its duties. This log can be viewed by double-clicking the completed task entry in the lower pane of the Maintenance tab.
The log files are stored in the same location as the Quest Reporter log files. This location can be changed by using the Configuration Utility.
