SoftReset

A soft reset is the equivalent of a reboot on a Pocket PC. Performing a soft reset provides a non-destructive means of re-initializing the Pocket PC. It does not cause any loss of user data, but all running programs are terminated. The only reasons you may want to perform a soft reset are if a specific application installation requires it, or if you need to force updated registry settings to take effect.

The SoftReset command has the same effect as a "reboot final" for the Symantec LiveState Agent for Windows. It does not cause an immediate reboot of the device. If any package in a job session has a SoftReset command in its script, a flag is set that instructs the Agent for Pocket PC to complete the entire job session, and then execute the reset. The Agent for Pocket PC reports the job status to the Configuration Server before it executes the reset. If any package in the job session fails for any reason the reset is not executed.
