Editing the package scripts

Each package may have two scripts that contain the instructions for post-processing the installation and removing the package. When the package is deployed to a managed Pocket PC, the scripts are run by the Agent for Pocket PC to execute the package.

Table 1-3 describes the post-installation and removal scripts.

Table 1-3 Package post-installation and removal scripts
Script
Description
Post-Install
The post-install script contains the instructions for post-processing the installation. The Symantec LiveState Configuration Server executes the post-install script on the managed Pocket PC after executing the pre-install script.
The commands in this script install or configure an application on the managed Pocket PC. This may be by running the CAB file or other installation file (where appropriate), or by copying files and shortcuts that are contained in the package, and setting the registry values as required.
Post-Remove
The post-remove script contains the instructions for post-processing the package deletion. The Symantec LiveState Configuration Server executes the post-remove script on the managed Pocket PC before deleting the package files.
The commands in this script remove the installed application from the Pocket PC. This may be by a direct uninstall (corresponding to the Remove Programs feature on the Pocket PC), or by deleting the files and shortcuts that were copied by the package, and deleting the registry values that were set by the package.
