Identifies the client name that is used when you back up,
archive, and restore files, folders, or registry keys from this
client.
The client name that appears here must match the client name in
the NetBackup policy on the master server.
Note:
|
Only a NetBackup administrator should change
this property.
|
|
|
The amount of time in seconds that the client waits for a
response from the NetBackup master server when it lists files.
If the response exceeds the maximum timeout, the client displays
the error message socket read failed.
The error occurs even if the request is still in process by the
master server.
The timeout can be set from 0 seconds to 36,000 seconds.
The default is 300 seconds.
Note:
|
Only a NetBackup administrator should change
this property.
|
|
|
The number of times the client attempts a restore after a
failure.
The number of attempts can be set from 0 to 3.
The default is 0 (no retries).
Note:
|
Only a NetBackup administrator should change
this property.
|
|
|
The number of minutes added to the date range for incremental
backups when you use date-based backups.
This property is used to compensate for differences in clock
speed between the client and the NetBackup server.
The overlap can be set from 0 minutes to 1,440 minutes.
The default is 60 minutes.
Note:
|
Only a NetBackup administrator should change
this property.
|
|
|
The amount of time in seconds that the client waits for a
response from the NetBackup master server when it performs
user-directed operations.
If the response exceeds the maximum timeout, the client displays
the error message socket read failed.
The error occurs even if the request is still in process by the
master server.
The timeout can be set from 0 seconds to 32,400 seconds.
The default is 60 seconds.
Note:
|
Only a NetBackup administrator should change
this property.
|
|
|
The number of days that the client retains progress log files
before they are deleted automatically by the client.
The retention time can be set from 0 days to 9,999 days.
The default is 3 days.
Logs for user-directed operations are stored on the client in
the following directory:
install_path\NetBackup\logs\user_ops\loginID\logs

Determines whether the Backup, Archive, and Restore session is
terminated automatically after a specified amount of
inactivity.
When this option is not checked (default), the automatic timeout
is not enabled. Users must log off manually.
When this option is checked, you must also select the timeout
value that determines when the Backup, Archive, and Restore session
is terminated. The timeout can be set in minutes, hours, or days.
The minimum timeout is 10 minutes and the maximum is two days.
If this option is enabled and a Backup, Archive, and Restore
session has been idle, a warning appears five minutes before the
automatic termination occurs. At that time, the user can select one
of the following:
-
If the user selects this option (or does not respond to the
warning), a dialog box displays the time that remains before the
session ends. Countdown warnings display every minute until the
timeout value is reached. The session ends and the user is logged
out automatically.
-
If the user selects this option, the session is extended by the
timeout value.
If the user begins to work at the console again, the automatic
logoff is canceled until the console is left idle again.
-
If the user selects this option, the session ends and the user
is logged off immediately.

Determines whether incremental backups are based on the archive
bit or the file datetime stamp.
When this property is checked (default), NetBackup includes
files in an incremental backup only if their archive bit is set. A
full backup always clears the archive bit. A differential
incremental backup clears the archive bit if the file backs up
successfully within the Wait Time Before
Clearing Archive Bits setting. (The wait time is configured
on the NetBackup master server.) A cumulative incremental backup or
a user backup has no effect on the archive bit.
Uncheck this property if the file datetime stamp has changed
since the last backup. NetBackup then includes a file only in an
incremental backup. For a differential incremental backup,
NetBackup compares the datetime stamp to the last full or
incremental backup. For a cumulative incremental backup, NetBackup
compares the datetime stamp to the last full backup.
If you install or copy files from another computer, the new
files retain the datetime stamp of the originals. If the original
date is earlier than the last backup date on this client, new files
are not backed up until the next full backup.
Do not combine differential incremental backups and cumulative
incremental backups within the same Windows policy when the
incremental backups are based on archive bit (default).
Note:
|
Only a NetBackup administrator should change
this property.

|
Determines whether administrators can initiate restores from the
master server to the client.
When this option is checked (default), administrators are
allowed to initiate restores to this client from the NetBackup
master server.
Uncheck this option to prevent administrators from initiating
restores to this client from the NetBackup master server.
Note:
|
Only a NetBackup administrator should change
this property.
|
|
|
Determines whether NetBackup performs an initial search for
backup images.
When this option is checked (default), NetBackup automatically
searches the default range of backup images. NetBackup displays the
backed up folders and files whenever a restore window is
opened.
Uncheck this option to disable the initial search. The Restore
window does not show any files or folders when initially opened, so
you must select a backup image or range of backup images.
