Restoring the NetBackup image database

Use the following procedure to restore the NetBackup image database.

To restore the NetBackup image database

  1. Ensure that the following configurations exist:

    The NetBackup master server is specified as the server to use for backups and restores.

    The NetBackup master server is specified as both the source client and destination client for restores.

    NBU-Catalog is specified as the policy type for the restore.

  2. Use normal restore or archive procedures to browse and select the client image files and associated .f files that you want restored.

    The client image file directories are located in the following directory (folder) on the master server:

    UNIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/db/images

    Windows: install_path\VERITAS\NetBackup\db\images

  3. In the Restore Marked Files dialog box, ensure that the following are selected:

    For Restore Destination, click Restore everything to its original location (default).

    For Restore Options, click Overwrite existing files.

  4. Restore the backups by using one of the following methods:

    Restore by using NetBackup agents.

    If the critical policy data was backed up using a NetBackup agent, use that agent to restore the data.

    Restore from the NetBackup master server to a client by using Backup, Archive, and Restore.

    Restore from a NetBackup client to that client by using Backup, Archive, and Restore.

    Use the appropriate restore procedure.

    Ensure that the following server, client, and policy type are configured correctly for the restore:
