A proxy restore lets you restore backed up files from a file server by using the Backup, Archive, and Restore interface on your computer. A proxy restore is useful in environments where users store their files on file servers instead of their local computer.
Use the following guidelines for proxy restores:
Your NetBackup environment must be configured to allow proxy restores.
Files can only be restored to the same file server from where they were backed up.
You must have write permission for the files you want to restore.
You can view and mark any of the folders and files in a selected backup. However, you cannot restore any items for which you do not have write access.
