About true image backups

When the backup policy attribute Collect true image restore information is enabled, NetBackup collects additional information about the backup. The additional information lets you perform a true image restore (TIR) later.

True image restores let you restore directories and their entire contents exactly as they were at the time of the full or the incremental backup.

A true image backup can be done only by a scheduled, server-directed (policy driven) backup. The Backup, Archive, and Restore interface cannot be used to perform a true image backup.

For more information, see the NetBackup Administrator's Guide, Volume I.
