About the recovery of image and configuration files only option

This option restores only the NetBackup policy, backup image, and configuration files from the catalog backup as designated by the disaster recovery file you specify.

The option to recover only the image and the configuration files is useful where the EMM database (and BMR database, if applicable) is valid but the NetBackup policy, backup image, and configuration files are lost or corrupt.

After the wizard recovery completes, you can restore the EMM database (and BMR database, if applicable) if necessary by running the following command:

bprecover -r -nbdb

If the backup to be restored from is an incremental catalog backup and no catalog backup images exist in the catalog, only the NetBackup policy, backup image, and the configuration files backed up in that incremental backup are restored. However, all of the catalog backup images up to the last full catalog backup are restored. Then you can restore the remaining NetBackup policy, backup images, and configuration files from the Backup, Archive, and Restore user interface. If catalog backup images already exist, all files that were included in the related set of catalog backups are restored.

Following is a list of the files that this wizard option restores. An asterisk means that multiple files exist within the directory:

Install_Path\VERITAS\NetBackup\db\*
Install_Path\VERITAS\NetBackup\vault\sessions\*
Install_Path\VERITAS\NetBackup\var\*
Install_Path\VERITAS\Volmgr\database\*
Install_Path\VERITAS\Volmgr\vm.conf

Note:

Sometimes a backup expires after the catalog backup is created. When the catalog is recovered, the expired backup catalog image is recovered. However, actual image data on the media may no longer be present (due to image expiration and media reuse).
